Position Overview
The Police Sergeant will lead and manage law enforcement operations within the Police Department. The Police Sergeant will play a vital role in maintaining public safety, overseeing the daily activities of Police Officers, civilian support staff, and fostering positive community relations. This position requires a skilled leader capable of effectively balancing administrative responsibilities with hands‑on policing in a close‑knit environment. The Sergeant may respond to major traffic collisions, special incidents, and community concerns; coordinates with other divisions, outside agencies, and the public; and represents the department at meetings related to traffic safety and operations.

Coordinate, direct, and supervise department efforts in the enforcement of laws, ordinances,andregulationsinthepreventionofcrimeandpreservationofpublicsafety and quality of life.
DirectsupervisionofPoliceDepartmentnon-swornpersonnelworkingwiththeSheriff’s Department and liaise with Sheriff's supervisors and executives.
Directsupervisionofpolicedepartmentsupportstaff.
Setclearexpectationsandupholdhighstandardsforconduct,performance,and adherence to ethical principles within the department.
Fosteracohesiveworkatmospherethatencouragesteamwork,respect,and collaboration among personnel.
Overseeandparticipateinpatroloperations,crime and traffic collision investigations,andemergencyresponseas necessary.
Ensurestrictenforcementoflaws,regulations,andagencyprotocolswhilemaintaininga proactive approach to community policing.
Reviewincidentreports,evidence,andofficerinteractionstoensureaccuracy,quality, and compliance.
Cultivateandmaintainstrongrelationshipswithcommunitymembers,localbusinesses, and organizations to bolster public trust and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’sdegreeincriminology,LawEnforcement,PublicAdministration, orrelatedfield from an accredited college or university, desired.
ActiveCaliforniaPeaceOfficerStandardsandTraining(POST)certification.
PossessionofaCaliforniaPOSTIntermediateCertificateorhigher
Five (5) years of law enforcement experience
Supervisory or team lead experience, desired.
An equivalent combinationofeducationandworkexperiencemaybeconsidered.
Valid California class “C” driver's license.
