Position Overview
Structural & Mechanical Inc. is seeking a skilled
Crane & Hydraulic Repair Technician
to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair cranes and hydraulic systems across industrial and marine environments. This role requires strong mechanical and hydraulic expertise, the ability to troubleshoot complex systems, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with cranes, heavy equipment, and hydraulic components, and is comfortable working both in the shop and in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, and repair
cranes and lifting equipment , including mobile, overhead, and pedestal cranes
Diagnose and repair
hydraulic systems
including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and hoses
Perform preventative maintenance, system testing, and equipment inspections to ensure safe operation
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and schematics
Repair and overhaul crane components such as winches, gearboxes, booms, and braking systems
Conduct load testing and assist with equipment certification and compliance requirements
Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and technical manuals
Perform field service work, including emergency repairs and on‑site troubleshooting
Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance logs, and inspection records
Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in
crane repair, heavy equipment maintenance, or hydraulic systems
Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems
Experience reading and interpreting schematics and technical drawings
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in marine, industrial, or construction environments
Crane‑specific experience (Grove, Terex, Liebherr, Link‑Belt, etc.)
Welding or fabrication experience
CDL or ability to travel to job sites
OEM certifications or technical training in hydraulics or heavy equipment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments
Ability to climb ladders, work on equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks
