Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
Diagnose, service, and repair various systems found on heavy equipment, including mechanical and electronic controls, transmissions, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs. Service and maintain components such as track drive sprockets, hydraulic systems, brake bands, and transmissions. Tune diesel engines and perform checks on valves, fuel filters, and turbochargers. Overhaul engines, replace parts, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Assist in training lower-level mechanics as needed.

Responsibilities

Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on mechanical and electronic systems of heavy equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and transmission systems.

Service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, and other components.

Tune diesel engines and perform pressure checks on fuel systems.

Disassemble, repair, and reassemble units in various systems, including cooling, brake, and steering.

Overhaul and replace engines and rebuild components.

Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and good working condition.

Train lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques as needed.

Perform related work as assigned.

Essential Skills

4+ years of proven mechanic experience on heavy machinery.

Experience with diesel engines, troubleshooting, and heavy equipment repair.

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.

Ability to repair and maintain construction and heavy equipment.

Experience with preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience as a Shop Mechanic or Mobile Mechanic.

Proficiency with hydraulic systems and construction equipment such as backhoes and excavators.

Capability to work as a Field Service Technician.

Skilled enough to troubleshoot and repair independently.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52,000.00 - $72,800.00 per year.

Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in San Antonio, TX.
