Position:
Coach – Assistant Girls Basketball
FLSA Status:
Exempt
Reports to:
Head Coach and Activities Director
Salary:
Stipend
Purpose Statement:
The Jefferson City School District seeks a qualified Assistant Coach to aid the Head Coach in serving the district’s 9,000 students across its schools. The role supports academic excellence and helps students develop skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and self‑esteem.
Essential Functions
Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in girls basketball.
Plan and schedule a regular program of practice during the season.
Work closely with the head coach to enforce discipline and sportsmen‑like behavior at all times, and to establish and oversee penalties for breaches of such standards by individual students.
Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
Assist the head coach with the organization and supervision of the sports program.
Comply with good safety practices.
Comply with all district rules, regulations and policies.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Valid Missouri teacher certificate.
Employment as a teacher in the Jefferson City School District.
Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport, preferred.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may deem appropriate.
Miscellaneous Requirements
Clearances:
Background clearance required; results must be satisfactory to the District.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
The job requires some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Applicants must be able to perform physical tasks in outdoor settings and in game‑plan preparation.
