Job Overview
The Department of Human Services seeks a skilled Maintenance Repairman II to help maintain Danville State Hospital facilities, ensuring a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for patients and staff.

Description of Work
In this role you will perform skilled work in at least two trades (roofing, sheet metal, carpentry, electrical, or plumbing) and general maintenance duties. You will also lead lower‑classification staff and oversee projects.

Perform carpentry work – build, construct, and repair wood and structural materials.

Install, repair, and refinishing flooring.

Prepare surfaces and paint or varnish for general painting tasks.

Fabricate and repair metal products, including sheet metal work.

Repair and install roofing systems and related components.

Perform electrical work – replace switches, receptacles, wiring, and circuits.

Carry out plumbing tasks – clear drains, repair fixtures, and maintain water & heating systems.

Perform welding on steam lines and other metal components.

Maintain clean work areas, work in environmentally challenging conditions, and comply with respirator usage, lead, asbestos, and other safety regulations.

Work Schedule

Full‑time: 37.5 hours per week.

Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday; 30‑minute lunch.

Telework not available.

Overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum two years as a Maintenance Repairman I (based on Commonwealth equivalent). OR

Four years of building and plant maintenance involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades. OR

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.

Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Conditional offer requires a medical examination.

Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act – conditional offer requires a satisfactory criminal background check.
