Job Description
Several positions have been declared open at Weber School District for Summer Maintenance Laborers. These are

temporary

positions. Previous experience desired.

Dates of work:

05/26/2026 through 08/21/2026.

THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned Foreman, the Maintenance Laborer assists skilled maintenance personnel in executing a wide variety of facility upkeep, repair, and improvement tasks.

Essential Functions

Collaborates effectively with and strictly follows directives from assigned journeyman-level personnel.

Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties, which may include, but are not limited to, painting, drywall patching, and carpet installation or repair.

Organizes, stocks, and maintains the cleanliness and safety of parts inventories, storage facilities, and active work sites.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (SKAs)

Communication:

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to comprehend instructions, read safety manuals, and report project progress.

Teamwork:

Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with supervisors, journeymen, and district staff.

Technical Skill:

Basic knowledge of general maintenance practices and the ability to safely operate standard hand and power tools.

Licensure:

Must hold and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License appropriate to the duties performed and equipment operated.

Required Education and Experience

No specific degree is required; however, the candidate must demonstrate the reading comprehension and communication skills necessary for successful job performance.

A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience demonstrating the reliability and mechanical aptitude to perform the essential duties.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Physical Requirements:

The position requires significant physical exertion. The employee must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and/or pull heavy tools, equipment, and materials (frequently exceeding 50 pounds). The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, potentially involving exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, fumes, noise, and mechanical hazards. Strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
