Job Duties
The Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant must possess a valid driver's license, be able and willing to drive and to transport children and adults, must be able to lift children and to interact with children and adults in a positive and supportive demeanor. Must have the ability to cope with stressful work and life threatening situations.
Performs Child Welfare administrative services in accordance with DSS Policy, Agency Mission and GPS Practice Model.
Authentically engages families and other professionals with empathy and respect.
Works collaboratively with Child Welfare staff in performing administrative tasks to support families and other professional/agency partners; tasks can include, facilitating referrals, written correspondence, records request, maintaining case records, family searches, and transportation for visitation.
Maintains an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health.
Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. Protects the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties/services as directed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and one (1) year or more of child welfare relevant program experience. An Associate Degree may be substituted for the required related experience.
