Job Function
The successful Fifth Grade – Self Contained Classroom Teacher candidate will guide the learning process toward achievement of district approved curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all instructional activities, and to clearly communicate these objectives to the students.
It is expected that the teacher will prepare for the assigned grade level and show written evidence of preparation. The classroom environment will be conducive to learning, and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. There should be a consistent incorporation of a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology.
Assessing the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports, as required, will be among the expectations of the school/district administration. The teacher must possess very effective communication skills in order to interact appropriately with students, parents, colleagues, and other professional staff.
It will be considered advantageous for the teacher candidate to have had experience with leading teams in the analysis of student performance data, and the use of progress monitoring data to identify and/implement appropriate interventions, as well as having a demonstrable background knowledge of RtI and the three-tiered problem‑solving model. The preferred candidate will have experience in a primary grade educational setting.
