Position Summary
The Science in the Park Event Teacher supports the planning and facilitation of the Lakeview School District’s “Science in the Park” event on July 15 at Minges Brook Elementary. This role focuses on creating and leading engaging, hands‑on science experiences that spark curiosity, promote inquiry, and provide fun learning opportunities for elementary students and families.
Funding Source
This position is funded under Section 31a At‑Risk, therefore all job responsibilities and duties are aligned with the Section 31 At‑Risk Program’s Intent and Purposes, specifically to provide supplementary support to children who are failing or most at risk of failing to meet the district's core academic curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and organize interactive, age‑appropriate science activities and experiments
Prepare and manage materials and supplies for outdoor science stations
Set up and facilitate activities during the event on July 15
Engage students and families in inquiry‑based, hands‑on learning experiences
Support event logistics, including setup, transitions, and cleanup
Ensure a safe environment, including proper use of materials and supervision of activities
Qualifications
Current Lakeview School District teacher with an
Interest or experience in science instruction or STEM programming preferred
Strong organizational and facilitation skills
Experience with elementary age children preferred
Effective summative rating on most recent evaluation preferred
Time Commitment
Includes preparation time prior to July 15 and participation during the event
Approximately 10–20 hours total
Compensation
$37.53 / hour
