
Supervisor, Human Services

Lee County's Department of Human & Veteran Services is seeking a service-driven LIHEAP Supervisor to lead programs that help residents maintain essential utility services.
In this role, you will oversee daily operations, guide staff, and ensure individuals and families receive timely, accurate assistance with energy and utility costs. Your work will promote equitable access to services and support the County’s commitment to serving vulnerable households.

What You Will Do
Lead daily operations of LIHEAP and other utility assistance programs, including application intake, eligibility determination, and benefit processing
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and funding source requirements
Monitor program performance, funding usage, and service delivery timelines across multiple funding streams
Supervise, train, and support staff through onboarding, coaching, evaluations, and regular team meetings
Review applications and case files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
Conduct file audits and support internal and external monitoring activities
Ensure high-quality, respectful, and efficient customer service delivery
Assist with escalated client concerns, complex cases, complaints, and appeals
Track and analyze program data; prepare reports and recommend process improvements
Coordinate with utility vendors, community partners, and internal teams to support service delivery and outreach efforts
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, public administration, or a closely related field
One (1) year of experience in human services or a closely related field to include:
Supervising staff in a social service, eligibility-based, or customer service program (meaning any program where staff regularly assist clients or the public, such as benefits intake, utility customer support, nonprofit assistance programs, or other high-volume client-service environments)
Administering utility or public assistance programs
Ensuring compliance and grant requirements (e.g., LIHEAP, CSBG, or similar funding sources)
Coordinating outreach and partnerships with community organizations and utility providers
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and case management systems
Strong customer service skills in a high-volume, client-facing environment
Supervisory or lead experience, including staff training and coaching
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and funding sources
Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach
Bilingual skills
Fingerprint Screening Requirement
This position requires a fingerprint-based background check, as required by law. The screening reviews criminal history and other legally permitted information. Applicants who do not meet the screening requirements will not be eligible for employment.
