Job Description
This part‑time, evening (Mon‑Thu 4:00‑10:00 p.m.) position is a Barbering Program Instructor. The instructor will prepare students to enter the workforce with the required skills and to successfully take and pass the licensing exam as outlined in the FLDOE Curriculum frameworks. Responsibilities are carried out in collaboration with the current full‑time Cosmetology & Barbering program instructor(s).

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Eligibility for District Certificate required, including one of the following:

One (1) year of technical training with 2 years of related, verifiable experience

Related AA/AS degree with 1‑year related experience

Three (3) years of full‑time, in‑field verified work experience

Related bachelor’s degree

Must be licensed in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

Design and implement instruction for assigned courses in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and student needs.

Create a positive educational climate that fosters respect and rapport among students.

Develop and deliver rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.

Utilize a variety of teaching practices that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual needs.

Observe, evaluate, and document student performance; monitor assessment data; maintain grades and attendance records.

Manage classroom behavior using effective strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.

Communicate with parents and district personnel about student progress and encourage parental involvement.

Ensure the health and safety of students; protect equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintain confidential records securely.

Maintain required certifications and professional development hours.

Engage with local businesses and community partners to support the CTE program.

Serve as local chapter advisor for relevant Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO).

Pursue continuous improvement and professional development, including earning industry certifications.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Lifting: Up to 10 pounds.

Reaching: Both dominant and non‑dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity moderate.
