Applications are now being accepted for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Instructional Coach at Logan High School starting the 2026–2027 school year. Applicants must hold a valid Utah Educator License and proper endorsement. The Instructional Coach, attaining both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about research-based effective instruction for teachers. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with strong interpersonal skills, a passion for coaching, and expertise in intervention strategies and data analysis.

Essential Functions

Supports the philosophy, mission and vision of Logan High School.

Works in conjunction with the building principal and the district instructional team (e.g. instructional coaches, teacher specialists, principals, and district directors) to improve instructional practices and student learning.

Works with the district instructional team to provide and/or arrange for professional development for all teachers.

Creates a positive, professional environment conducive with district and school initiatives.

Collaborates with teachers and other school leaders to bring effective, evidence based instructional practices to the classroom.

Facilitates the intellectual and professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement.

Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.

Utilizes the instructional coaching process in one-on-one and small group settings to provide support to teachers and school leaders in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies for the purpose of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity.

Build relationships with teachers by working in a confidential, non-evaluative, and supportive manner.

General Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching

Collaborate with teachers to improve instructional practices through modeling, co‑teaching, observation, and feedback.

Model effective, differentiated instruction and classroom management strategies.

Provide organized, individual, and/or group learning opportunities for teachers.

Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments.

Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies.

Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers.

Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research, and inquiry sessions.

Work collaboratively and collegially with other instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and district specialists.

Collaboration and Communication

Assist teachers with specific classroom activities and lesson/unit planning through guided practice.

Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers.

Observe classroom activities with a clear focus, data collection, and debriefing sessions.

Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions, when requested.

Assist with the development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments, when requested.

Additional Coaching Practices

Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.

Provide personalized 1:1 support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers.

Share reading materials and resources for professional learning.

Support time management coaching for teachers to maximize learning.

Professional Standards

Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.

Possess an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics involving students in observed classrooms.

Perform duties as assigned by the Principal and the Director of Secondary Schools.
