Job Description
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an approved education program in subject area.
North Carolina teaching license.
Nature of Work:
Plan, instruct, and organize instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills contributing to their educational and social development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students, especially in inclusive activities.
Motivate students.
Maintain a clean, orderly environment.
Perform general clerical duties.
Maintain order and discipline in the classroom.
Operate common office machines.
Maintain basic files and records.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships as needed by work assignments.
Essential Job Functions:
Have materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of each lesson or instructional activity; get the class started quickly and keep students on task; maintain a high level of student time‑on‑task.
Establish rules and procedures for routine administrative matters, student participation, classroom movement, and behavior; frequently monitor behavior during all activities; address inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining dignity of the student.
Begin each lesson or activity with a review of prior materials; introduce objectives; speak fluently, precisely; present content using comprehensible language; provide examples and demonstrations; assign tasks with high success rates; ask appropriate level questions; conduct lessons briskly while adjusting pace for student understanding; make smooth transitions; summarize main points at the end.
Maintain clear, firm expectations and deadlines; circulate during class work to check progress; use oral, written, and other products to assess performance; pose clear questions one at a time.
Provide feedback on correct and incorrect in‑class work to encourage growth; give prompt feedback on out‑of‑class assignments; affirm correct responses and provide sustaining feedback for incorrect responses; probe, repeat, give clues, or allow more time.
Develop instructional plans aligning with school and systemwide curricular goals; use diagnostic information from tests and assessments to revise objectives and tasks; maintain accurate student performance records; align objectives, strategies, and assessments to student needs and appropriate difficulty; use available human and material resources to support instruction.
Treat all students fairly and equitably; interact effectively with students, coworkers, parents, and community.
Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned; adhere to laws, policies, rules, and regulations; follow a professional development plan and demonstrate growth.
Uphold the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional conduct.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
