MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's Degree and valid Oklahoma teaching certificate.
Experience: Minimum of three years classroom teacher experience; teaching gifted learners preferred.
Skills: Knowledge of current state gifted requirements and reporting practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Within GATE Classroom:
Demonstrates knowledge, skill and ability to provide instruction in an elementary GATE classroom
Provides appropriate curriculum/instruction to identified GATE students in a pullout model; also provides curricular extensions that can be utilized in the regular classroom
Provides a minimum of 120 minutes of differentiated instruction to GATE students weekly
Works cooperatively with students, parents/guardians, peers, administration, and community members
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards in order to meet the needs of all students
Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects for cluster teachers and GATE parents
Analyzes student data and progress of classroom assessments to provide effective and targeted instruction and extensions
Administers appropriate District curriculum, aligned with the COGAT results.
Ensures the opportunity for GATE students to interact in a collaborative learning environment
Provides a classroom management plan ensuring student safety at all times
Develops a self-esteem based classroom climate that increase motivation of learning
Outside of the classroom:
Assists with lesson planning and modeling lessons for cluster teachers
Assists in the referral process, identification and assessment of GATE students
Plan, organize and conduct staff development/training meeting the needs of assigned campus(es)
Chair and lead the site gifted committee
Be available for parent-teacher conferences
Advocate for the needs of gifted students
Interpret and communicate assessment results to staff and parents
Inform students and parents of enrichment opportunities which are extra-curricular and hosted by either the school or another educational institutions
Screens and identifies potential GATE students at assigned campus(es) in order to provide appropriate services
Collaborates effectively and professionally with administration, staff, parents/guardians, and the community.
Support cluster teacher PLC and lesson planning to meet the needs of GATE students by differentiating instruction
Participated in other job-related duties and activities related to the position, as assigned.
ATTENDANCE STATEMENT
Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities 95% of the time.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Primarily inside working conditions; some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty and travel between sites.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
Sitting at a desk for extended periods
Talking and hearing in order to communicate with other employees and public on the phone and in person concerning job-related duties
Manual dexterity required to operate a keyboard with proficiency, calculator, telephone, and other office equipment
Ability to lift and manipulate objects such as file boxes of up to 40 lbs to waist height.
Walking as required to access equipment and perform responsibilities
