Job Description
The Cabarrus County school system is accepting applications for a position as an elementary school Academically/Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Education Program Teacher.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide differentiated instruction to identified gifted students in grades 3–5 through both resource and inclusion models, in alignment with the Cabarrus County Schools Academically/Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Service Plan.
Design and deliver weekly enrichment instruction for students in grades K–2 through the CCS LIFT program, with a focus on early talent development, higher-level thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
Facilitate the talent development process for students in grades K–5, including the identification and nurturing of academic potential, maintenance of student portfolios, and support of gifted identification nominations.
Collaborate closely with general education teachers to plan, model, and co‑teach differentiated lessons that meet the academic, intellectual, and affective needs of gifted and high‑potential learners.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the social and emotional needs of gifted learners, and integrate strategies that support student well‑being, motivation, and growth mindset.
Evaluate, document, and monitor student performance, using multiple data sources to inform instruction and ensure appropriate services; effectively communicate progress and needs with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
Participate in AIG teachers’ curriculum planning and implementation.
Participate in and facilitate ongoing professional development for the district and at the school site, pertinent to AIG education.
Administer and interpret appropriate standardized assessments in accordance with district placement guidelines and procedures.
Maintain records for AIG students according to assessment and placement criteria.
Advocate for the academic, intellectual, and social‑emotional needs of AIG and high‑potential students, ensuring equitable access to services and opportunities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate for this position both at the district level and at the school site.
Preferred Qualifications
Must hold or qualify to hold a minimum of a North Carolina Class A elementary teaching license.
AIG licensure preferred but not required for initial employment.
Meet expectation to pursue add‑on AIG licensure during a two‑year probationary period.
