Estimator - Commercial Construction
Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing team in Columbia, SC. This role is responsible for analyzing project documents, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and preparing comprehensive cost estimates for competitive bid proposals. The Estimator will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of bids while building strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to confirm complete and coordinated scopes of work.
- Identify and evaluate risk factors and develop strategies to mitigate them during bidding.
- Manage and respond to invitations to bid and coordinate proposal submissions.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for assigned trades.
- Collaborate with managers on conceptual budgets and preliminary pricing efforts.
- Develop bid tab sheets, gather and analyze subcontractor proposals, and prepare bid tabulations.
- Author trade-specific qualifications and exclusions for bid packages.
- Maintain and grow subcontractor and supplier relationships ensuring alignment with company values and client expectations.
- Participate in industry networking events to expand subcontractor database and market knowledge.
- Coordinate smooth turnover of awarded projects to the project management team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
- Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff and other estimating software.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work cross functionally.
