Summer Residential Hall Manager – Summer Programming
Dates: June and July
The Residence Hall Manager oversees the summer programming and daily residential operations. This role includes supervising camp counselors, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, managing administrative tasks, and fostering a positive living environment. The manager must reside in the residence hall Sunday through Sunday.
Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership: Oversee the daily activities and responsibilities of summer counselors and residential staff; conduct regular meetings with residential staff to discuss issues, updates, and schedules; provide leadership and support to ensure a positive and cohesive team dynamic; serve as a chaperone, when needed, for field trips.
Participant Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in the residence hall; address and resolve any behavioral issues, conflicts, or emergencies; be available to participants for support, guidance, and problem-solving; ensure residence hall doors are locked at the appropriate times; serve as a point of contact for parents and camp staff for emergencies after normal business hours (after 5:30 p.m. MTH); ensure participants strictly follow the sign-in and out process.
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, room assignments, and incident reports; manage the logistics of camper check-in and checkout procedures; oversee the distribution and collection of keys, linens, and other residential supplies.
Programming and Activities: Plan and implement evening activities for participants in the residence hall; encourage participation in activities and promote a sense of community among participants; collaborate with other summer staff to integrate residential activities with overall camp programming; monitor all camp activities in the residence hall and in the evenings.
Health and Safety: Conduct regular safety checks and inspections of the residence hall; ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety procedures; handle emergencies according to camp protocols.
Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between the residence hall and camp staff; communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student issues or concerns; foster open communication with participants and staff to address needs and feedback; consult with the Summer Programming Director, Provost, and Executive Vice President on any challenges.
Facility Management: Ensure the residence hall is clean, well-maintained, and secure; report maintenance issues and coordinate with facility staff for repairs and upkeep; manage the inventory of
