Community School Summer- Paraeducator – Internal Applicants Only
Location:
Park Hall Elementary School (Program runs Mon‑Thurs, 9:00‑12:00 pm, July 6‑July 30)
Salary:
Current SMCPS paraeducators – hourly rate of pay OR Current SMCPS employees who are not paraeducators – $15.00 per hour

Application Procedures
Qualified applicants, including current employees of St. Mary's County Public Schools, must complete a TalentEdonline application. In addition to the online application, any supporting documentation (unofficial transcript and/or copy of the certification, where applicable) must be scanned and uploaded to the TalentEd application. The online application and any support documentation must clearly demonstrate that the applicant meets the minimum qualifications, including information about the applicant’s background, experience, and professional qualifications. Failure to submit all required documentation will result in your application being considered incomplete. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the selection committee for review. All online applications must be completed no later than May 5, 2026. Following a screening of credentials, interviews will be scheduled. Nature of Work
This is a temporary position designed to meet the instructional needs of students participating in the Community School Summer Program. The paraeducator must be able to work collaboratively with staff to support the instructional goals of students and the class.
Essential Functions
Ability to professionally relate to and collaborate well with students, colleagues, parents, and the school community
Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality
Ability to use technology effectively to complete tasks
Ability to report to work when scheduled and on time
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
Ability to work independently in the absence of detailed instructions and to follow complex oral and/or written instructions
Possess effective written and organizational skills
Possess knowledge of the programs, policies, and procedures of the St. Mary's County Public Schools
Duties and Responsibilities
Works collaboratively with program support staff
Escorts students, as necessary
Maintains a safe and orderly environment
Assists students and staff with instructional activities, materials, projects, and organization
Leads appropriate learning and/or enrichment activities
Modifies planned activities to meet the needs of individual learners
Monitors and evaluates student progress
Qualifications
Required:
Current SMCPS full‑time employee
Forty‑eight (48) semester college credits OR successful completion of the Paraprofessional Test (documents must be uploaded to your application)
Term of Employment
This is a temporary/hourly summer assignment.
Salary Grade Range
Current SMCPS paraeducators – hourly rate of pay OR Current SMCPS employees who are not paraeducators – $15.00 per hour
