Payroll Technician

Doherty Staffing Solutions is hiring a Payroll Technician for a local county organization in St. Cloud, MN. In this role, youll support accurate biweekly payroll processing and prepare essential reports used by County departments and state and federal agencies. This position is a great fit for detail-oriented professionals who enjoy working with payroll data, compliance, and reporting in a structured, professional office environment.
What Youll Do as a Payroll Technician:
Process biweekly payroll by verifying and calculating timesheets, benefits, deductions, accruals, and FMLA tracking
Maintain and audit employee payroll and personnel records, including wages, benefits, and deduction changes
Prepare and audit federal and state payroll tax deposits and related reports
Maintain payroll system accuracy for pay, tax, and benefit information
Audit and prepare insurance billings and communicate billing adjustments with vendors
Generate payroll reports and respond to payroll-related inquiries
Assist Human Resources with labor relations data, job verifications, and reporting as requested
What You Need to Bring to the Payroll Technician Role:
High school diploma or equivalent Two years of post-secondary education in accounting or payroll and three years of payroll/accounting experience OR seven years of payroll/accounting experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to prepare accurate reports and communicate clearly in writing and verbally
Experience with payroll processing required; governmental accounting experience preferred
Experience with tax laws related to payroll and benefits preferred
