Job Overview

The Department of Justice Care and Opportunities is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Justice Program Associate vacancies related to the homelessness crisis. Applicants will be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days under the emergency order, with a performance assessment and an opportunity for permanent appointment.
Essential Job Functions

Research clients by identifying, locating, and extracting relevant client background data from varied sources to support recommendations to internal and external partners in the processing of justice involved clients.
Prepare and compile information by grouping and’ or categorizing relevant data in meaningful ways to facilitate analysis.
Review and compare vendor records to contract requirements to help ensure providers abide by county agreements and help ensure the performance of programs serving justice impacted individuals.
Interact with a variety of individuals, including supervisors, vendors, and representatives of external agencies, when participating in meetings, mediating disputes, making presentations, providing advice and/or consultation services to communicate information, share ideas, present recommended solutions, gain agreement, and coordinate activities.
Organize and coordinate internal and external activity while maintaining productivity and other statistics for use by a supervisor in an internal and external performance assessment.
Monitor processes and programs by gathering and analyzing relevant information to ensure that processes are capable, stable, and that programs are proceeding as scheduled.
Help evaluate the effectiveness of various programs by comparing program outcomes to program goals to determine whether to continue, modify, or discontinue processes as needed.
Perform various duties, including interviewing, reviewing, communicating, creating and maintaining files, compiling and processing reports, and routing documents, by appropriately applying federal and state laws, county and local ordinances, and departmental policies to ensure all work complies with established guidelines and requirements.
All applicants will be assessed on their work performance before the end of the initial work period. This assessment will be weighted 100%.
Requirements

Option I: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience performing basic to routine analytical assignments, including researching, analyzing, and communicating information, and recommending solutions to problems related to administrative or program support of a functional area.
Option II: A master’s degree or higher in a discipline related to the core business function or mission of the department such as health, social services, or justice programs.
Option III: Four years of experience performing basic to routine analytical assignments involving interviewing, researching, analyzing, and communicating information, and recommending solutions to problems related to the administrative or program support of a functional area.
Option IV: Three years of experience at the level of Senior Investigator Aid, Probation or four years at the level of Investigator Aid, Probation.
License : A valid California Class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Class : Light—administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Accredited institutions are those listed in the publications of regional, national, or international accrediting agencies accepted by the Department of Human Resources. Acceptable references include American Universities and Colleges and International Handbook of Universities. Degrees deemed equivalent to U.S. accredited degrees by a recognized credential evaluation agency are also acceptable.

In the County of Los Angeles, experience at the level of Senior Investigator Aid, Probation is defined as working within a team lead capacity, exercising independent judgment, and possessing knowledge of various Pretrial Services Programs such as Bail Deviation, Own Recognizance, and Electronic Monitoring.
In the County of Los Angeles, experience at the level of Investigator Aid, Probation is defined as work consisting of more routine and less complex investigative activities such as telephone interviewing and compiling information from automated systems pertaining to Pretrial Services Programs such as Bail Deviation, Own Recognizance, and Electronic Monitoring.
