Straydog, Inc. (www.straydog.org) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Development Associate to support and grow our fundraising efforts. This part-time contract role is ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands‑on—someone who loves building meaningful connections, creating memorable events, and expanding a community of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance.
This role will play a key part in advancing Straydog’s fundraising strategy by supporting donor development, managing events, cultivating corporate partnerships, and strengthening our overall donor experience.

Founded in 1994, Straydog is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless and abandoned dogs in a true no‑kill environment. We provide a lifelong sanctuary for dogs who are not adopted, remaining steadfast in our commitment to every animal in our care.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of strategies to grow Straydog’s donor base, with an emphasis on engaging new supporters
Assist in building thoughtful donor journeys and giving pathways (one‑time, recurring, major gifts, and legacy giving)
Contribute to fundraising campaigns and initiatives that increase donor acquisition, retention, and overall giving
Event Planning & Execution
Lead coordination and execution of key fundraising events, including the annual Gala, and other special events
Manage logistics, vendor relationships, timelines, and on‑site execution to ensure seamless and engaging experiences
Support event promotion and post‑event follow‑up to maximize impact and revenue
Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships
Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate partnerships and event sponsorships
Develop and refine sponsorship packages and outreach strategies
Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners to support long‑term engagement
Community Engagement & Representation
Represent Straydog at community events, networking opportunities, and partner meetings, as mutually agreed upon
Build relationships with community leaders, donors, and prospective supporters
Identify new opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and community engagement
Data & Systems Management
Assist in maintaining accurate donor records in the donor management system
Track fundraising activity and support reporting efforts to inform strategy and decision‑making
Qualifications & Skills
Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or event planning preferred
Proven ability to build relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with social media, Microsoft Office, and donor databases (Network for Good or similar platforms a plus)
Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
Passion for animal welfare and alignment with Straydog’s mission
Work Schedule
This is a flexible, part‑time contract role. Some evening and weekend availability is required for events and donor engagement.
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
