Information Security Engineer
The Information Security Engineer will support low to moderately complex Information Security Engineering initiatives focused on baseline configurations and secure standards across the enterprise. This role contributes to defining, documenting, and publishing baseline configurations for a wide range of technologies, ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory expectations. The engineer will work closely with product owners, application teams, and security partners to drive consistency, clarity, and continuous improvement across IT services.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in baseline configuration development for enterprise IT services.
Research, evaluate, and document secure configuration standards for Windows and Linux environments.
Review and support vulnerability remediation efforts.
Apply Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles, including least privilege.
Support logging and monitoring requirements.
Maintain high-quality documentation and tickets.
Coordinate with application and product owners to gather inputs.
Follow change management and compliance procedures.
Present recommendations for low to moderate risk security decisions.
Support ongoing process improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of Information Security Engineering experience, demonstrated through work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
Strong fundamentals in secure configuration and system hardening across Windows and/or Linux environments.
Experience with vulnerability management, including validation, prioritization, remediation coordination, and exception documentation.
Solid understanding of IAM fundamentals, including least privilege, MFA concepts, and account lifecycle basics.
Familiarity with logging and monitoring fundamentals, including common log sources and basic SIEM concepts.
Strong documentation discipline and ability to present low to moderate complexity recommendations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with IT partners and support process improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Python or PowerShell scripting experience for automation and reporting.
Exposure to cloud security fundamentals (AWS, Azure, GCP) or virtualization basics.
Familiarity with security tools such as EDR, SIEMs, and vulnerability scanners.
Working knowledge of security frameworks and controls, such as CIS Controls or NIST-style controls.
Experience in financial services or large enterprise environments.
Compensation
The pay rate for this position is $41.00 to $44.00 per hour.
