Job Preview:
The Medical Office Receptionist provides professional, welcoming, and efficient service to all patients at the Hopedale Medical Arts office and its satellite locations. This role is responsible for accurate and timely scheduling for all physicians using the current EMR scheduling system. This position is primarily based in Hopedale but may require coverage at satellite offices as needed, including occasional Saturdays. Office hours for the Hopedale location are MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM.
Responsibilities:
Unlock the office and prepare for patient arrival
Answer incoming calls, assist with scheduling, and route calls appropriately
Take accurate messages for nursing staff and physicians
Greet patients and update demographic and insurance information
Update schedules in the EMR
Schedule appointments based on provider availability and service type
Maintain and update Medical Arts policies and procedures
Refer patients needing financial assistance to the billing office
Schedule follow-up appointments and provide reminder cards
Collect payments at time of service
Make reminder calls for upcoming appointments
Maintain schedules for consulting physicians and notify their home offices as needed
Complete lab and outpatient service requisitions and direct patients to admitting
Complete end-of-day procedures
Assist with ordering and restocking office supplies
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with compassion and professionalism
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Willingness to work at all satellite offices (Atlanta, Delavan, Mackinaw, Manito, Tremont)
Previous medical office experience preferred
ICD-9 and medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs
Ability to communicate clearly with peers and patients
