
Occupational Therapist

In a school setting, responsible for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of students needing occupational therapy services in order to promote independent functioning and facilitate learning. Services provided involve a wide range of commonly accepted and used theories, methodology, and principles. Creativity is necessary to develop specialized treatment aids (e.g., equipment) to fit unique needs.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or related program
Valid Texas license as an occupational therapist granted by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
Special Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to apply various occupational therapy theories, techniques, and methodologies covering topics such as physiological, neurological, sensory, and behavioral interventions.
Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment instruments
Ability to analyze problems and provide creative alternatives, especially in the design and development of equipment.
Knowledge of normal child development patterns
Knowledge of State, local, and Federal laws and regulations affecting the delivery of occupational therapy services.
Maintains a valid Texas driver's license.
Experience
One year experience as an occupational therapist
Pediatric experience preferred
