
Visitor Information Specialist.

Responsibilities
Assists in the development of interpretive and environmental education programs, media, and exhibits for use on the unit and at the Visitor Center.
Manages visitor information and public services activities and supervises administrative staff on the unit, including purchasing and district fleet management.
Performs administrative and HR functions, providing advice, counsel, or instruction on work matters.
Provides office and facilitation services supporting research efforts, such as grants and agreements, procurement, personal property, travel, etc.
Leads planning and implementation of interpretive services and conservation education programs for the unit.
Conveys detailed program information in written and non‑written forms using various formats.
Conducts supervisory duties less than 20% of the time.
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of a one‑year probationary period, unless previously served.
All federal employees must have federal payments made by direct deposit.
Must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, applicants must meet the following experience and education requirements:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑7 grade level, defined as one or more of the following:
Under close supervision, provided grants and agreements support to program managers; established and maintained partnerships with state government agencies, tribes, universities, for‑profit or non‑profit organizations.
Prepared and developed meeting materials, briefings, charts, fact sheets, and issue papers; or identified and implemented ways of eliminating, combining, or improving administrative procedures and processes.
Or a master’s degree or equivalent graduate education of two full years leading to such a degree or an LL.B./J.D., if related.
Or an appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate education (only graduate education beyond 18 semester hours may be used to qualify). The education must be obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Time in Grade Requirement: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time‑in‑grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Additional Information: Transfer of station may be authorized. Final determination will be made at time of official job offer.
