Internship Description
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a temporary GIS intern(s) with a minimum of 10 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours per week. This internship is an extension of academic instruction and provides the opportunity to turn classroom instruction into practical application in the workplace. The intern will draw upon the knowledge gained through college coursework to perform the principal assignment and/or projects of this internship. The intern will work directly with the Anne Arundel County OIT GIS Staff in developing web mapping products, data development, and quality control procedures. The intern will learn Esri Enterprise products such as Portal, SDE, versioning, Dashboards, Storymaps, Python scripting, and geoprocessing, and develop an understanding of how GIS is utilized throughout an organization for analysis and decision making.

Availability
Currently filling for Summer 2026. Minimum 10 hours per week, maximum 40 hours per week. Work hours Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Schedule flexibility available.

Student Eligibility
Undergraduate or graduate student. College majors preferred: Geography, GIS, Information Systems, or Computer Science. All applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
