Job Summary
The EH&S Associate supports the implementation and sustainment of safety projects and initiatives to create a safe and productive work environment. Working under the direction of the EH&S Manager, the EH&S Associate collaborates with employees at all levels, facilitates training, conducts safety audits, performs ergonomic assessments, and ensures compliance with safety protocols. This role also involves maintaining accurate data and documentation to support continuous improvement efforts in safety performance.

Duties/Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and administration of the location’s safety programs, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory standards.

Deliver safety‑related training, including technical, environmental, and health‑related topics, to enhance team member understanding and compliance.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, operations, and equipment to identify and address hazards, ensuring a safe working environment.

Evaluate workstations, tasks, and processes to identify ergonomic risks, recommend improvements, and support injury prevention initiatives.

Gather, input, and analyze safety program data, preparing detailed reports for leadership to support decision‑making and compliance tracking.

Act as a key point of contact between departments and project teams to share safety updates, best practices, and improvement opportunities.

Manage and update safety‑related documents, including SDS, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and compliance records.

Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and related safety initiatives to enhance readiness and response capabilities.

Actively identify opportunities to improve safety practices and promote a culture of accountability and responsibility for safety across the location.

Support company values and continuous improvement efforts by performing additional tasks as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of safety practices, ergonomic principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting and data management.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation abilities.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organization.

Ability to properly assess and prioritize tasks.

Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, often changing environment.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience in safety, ergonomics, training, or related roles is preferred.

Certification or willingness to obtain certifications in Environmental, Health, and Safety (e.g., OSHA 10 & 30).

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally heavier objects with assistance.

Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the shift.

Comfortable with repetitive movements such as reaching, grasping, and handling materials.

Ability to work in varying temperature environments.

Ability to climb ladders or stairs and perform tasks at heights when necessary.

Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job.

Comfortable performing ergonomic assessments and visual safety inspections.

Work Environment

Indoor and outdoor wood manufacturing environment.

Moderate to high noise levels.

Wood dust in limited quantities.

Flexible schedule, including potential overtime and weekend work.
