Position Overview
The Huck Institutes of The Life Sciences (The Huck) and the U.S. National Science Foundation National Synthesis Center for Emergence in the Molecular and Cellular Sciences (NCEMS) seek to hire a Researcher to support and advance NCEMS's mission of catalyzing and conducting community‑scale synthesis in the molecular and cellular sciences through research and externally facing activities.
This is a non‑tenure‑line, term appointment funded by NCEMS, with an initial appointment of 1 year, renewable contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.
The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic and collaborative research environment and will work closely with both internal and external faculty, students, and partners.
Term length will be discussed during the interview process; continuation beyond the term will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
Responsibilities
Advance the NCEMS mission through support of community‑scale synthesis research and training of the next generation of data‑savvy scientists
Coordinate project activities, timelines, and deliverables
Analyze data and prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations/workshops
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across NCEMS
Assist with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biosciences, Plant Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
Demonstrated experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, AI‑driven biological data analysis, and scalable open‑science research infrastructure and training
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with externally funded projects
Track record of publications and/or technical reports
Experience with proposal development
Ability to work in interdisciplinary and collaborative environments
Experience developing and delivering trainings and workshops tailored to specific scientific communities
