Job Purpose and Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician, you support the pharmacy team to consistently deliver on our brand promise. You are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities
Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.

Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.

Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: providing personalized moments while serving at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services; and addressing or escalating patient problems.

Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, performing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.

Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, be receptive to feedback, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.

Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to other stores in the market.

Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Adhere to CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, and protection of patient privacy and security.

Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing of off‑site clinics) where allowed by law and supported by training and certification.

Immunization Responsibilities

Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.

Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccine questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.

Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.

Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.

Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.

Required Qualifications

Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.

If the state board does not mandate a minimum age, must be at least 16 years old.

If the state board does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high‑school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high‑school or an equivalence program.

State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

Use math to solve problems such as calculating tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and bottle counts.

Identify challenging interactions and choose the best action among multiple options.

Physical Demands

Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.

Lift, scan, and bag items.

Reach overhead; stretch or reach with body, arms, and/or legs to grasp items.

Move fingers repetitively; pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers.

Extend hand(s) and arm(s) in multiple directions to place, move, or lift items.

Control precision; quickly adjust machines to exact positions.

Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles to move items between low and high positions.

Maintain close visual acuity for transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, or inspecting small parts.

Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequently lift up to 10 lbs and/or exert up to 10 lbs of force; consistently lift and/or exert negligible force to move objects.

Express or exchange ideas by spoken word where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately.

Receive detailed information through oral communication.

Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1‑3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.

Pay Range
$16.00 - $24.00 per hour.
