Shipping Coordinator
The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, preparing, and processing outbound shipments to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of finished goods. This role supports daily warehouse and distribution operations while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, inventory, and customer requirements. Shipping Coordinators are expected to take ownership of shipping activities, communicate effectively across departments, and contribute to a safe, organized, and team-oriented warehouse environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare, create, and process picking tickets, bills of lading, and other required shipping documentation for customer orders.
Coordinate daily shipments to ensure orders are picked, staged, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
Communicate with Customer Service, Sales, Traffic, and Production regarding order changes, priorities, and product availability.
Navigate and utilize WMS and TMS systems to manage shipments, inventory movements, and documentation.
Perform basic mathematical calculations to verify order quantities, pallet counts, and shipment accuracy.
Participate in daily cycle counts and inventory checks to maintain inventory integrity.
Monitor shipping activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company procedures, and safety standards.
Report incidents, near misses, and shipping discrepancies to management in a timely manner.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping office and surrounding work areas in accordance with 5S, SQF, and GMP standards.
Assist in other warehouse or operational areas as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, interpret, and accurately process shipping documents such as picking tickets and bills of lading.
Basic math, reading, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook with intermediate computer skills (typing, 10-key, data entry).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal departments.
Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and good attendance.
Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and situational awareness in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Customer-first mindset with a willingness to assist where needed.
Education and Experience:
Previous warehouse, shipping, or logistics experience preferred but not required.
Prior Forklift experience required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to work in a warehouse environment that may include forklifts, pallet jacks, and moving equipment.
Must be aware of surroundings and follow all safety policies and procedures.
