About the Role
Syensqo is a science company dedicated to developing chemistry solutions that improve lives while preserving the planet. We are looking for a summer intern to work in the Polymer Additives Technical Services group at our Stamford Research Laboratories within the Technology Solutions group.
The role involves participating in weathering studies and testing of polymers for surface and physical properties, supporting the technical development of new additive and polymer products, and conducting lab characterization of waterborne coatings.
Responsibilities
Blend polymer resins with additive packages and formulate paint.
Measure color, gloss, and other physical properties of polymer samples.
Conduct strength tests on small parts and perform various testing for waterborne coatings.
Support the technical development of new products in additives and polymers for waterborne systems.
Assist with characterization of any physical properties of new additives.
Analyze lab data, record raw data and results into logbooks or computers, and communicate results internally.
Maintain laboratory and associated equipment in a safe and clean condition.
Periodically summarize results and discuss conclusions with the project team.
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Safety Responsibilities
Understand and follow key Syensqo safety policies and procedures for the site.
Know the emergency response, crisis management, and evacuation guidelines.
Adhere to visitor safety and housekeeping protocols.
Know the location of first aid and emergency response equipment and keep chemical documentation up to date.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Chemistry, Polymer science, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
Hands‑on laboratory experience and interest in laboratory work.
Proactive, multitasking and open‑minded.
Data processing skills (Excel, Google Sheets).
Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing in English.
