NaphCare is hiring a

Phlebotomist

to join our team of medical professionals in the

Julia Tutwiler Correctional Facility

in Wetumpka, Alabama.

As a

Correctional Phlebotomist , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide emergency medical care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of routine blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture, techniques using standing equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes, and butterfly needles.

Prepare, process, label, and store all patient specimens and samples according to departmental and company procedures, using standard techniques and equipment, for subsequent analysis by clinical laboratory staff.

Use all functions and applications of TechCare relevant to the position with no supervision.

Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels within the organization. Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue‑resolution processes.

Demonstrate personal performance based on professional practice standards, relevant statutes, rules and regulations and organizational criteria.

Utilize standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification and record all appropriate collection information on proper requisitions.

Maintain inventory, stock, re‑order, and replace laboratory supplies as necessary.

Ensure that all equipment related to laboratory services is properly maintained and functioning.

Maintain all records for maintenance of equipment related to laboratory services, including, but not limited to, disinfections, repairs, and safety checks.

Qualifications

Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).

Comply with continuing education requirements for the respective position and be mindful of any NCCHC standards related to continuing education.

Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.

Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
