Position: Educational Assistant
Assignment: Mainstream Elementary
Location: Rosemary School
Contract Type: Temporary 1.00 FTE; Full Time (approximately 30 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday – Thursday: 8:20 AM to 3:20 PM; Friday: 8:20 AM to 12:09 PM (staff may stay longer when training is held)
Duration: May 4, 2026 – June 5, 2026
About the Position
Rosemary School is seeking an Educational Assistant to work with our elementary students, preparing them for future grades. This temporary full‑time contract supports student learning and requires an individual who works well under pressure, upholds division values, and demonstrates kindness, resilience, and an understanding of the role’s importance.
Job Duties
Support students in instruction as well as with physical, social, and behavioral needs.
Encourage positive interactions between students and staff.
Work closely and collaboratively with school staff, including classroom teachers and administration.
Perform activities such as lifting, transferring, and providing personal care as necessary.
Participate in student school activities such as swimming or outdoor sports when required.
Ideal Candidate Skills & Abilities
Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and reading.
Ability to assist with all subject areas for the grades supported.
Support students with literacy and numeracy.
Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Enjoys working with elementary‑level students, including Pre‑K and Kindergarten.
Understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools mission and values.
Contributes to a classroom and social environment that puts students first and supports diversity and inclusion.
Respectful and sensitive to diversity.
Recognizes how the Educational Assistant role impacts the community.
Personal integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to establish trust and rapport with students and coworkers.
Education and Certifications
High School diploma.
Experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, health‑care, or related setting.
Preferred but Not Required
Post‑secondary training in education, as an Educational Assistant, or a related profession.
2+ years working with children or in an educational setting.
Pre‑Employment Conditions
Current Criminal Record Check reported within the last 6 months of hire date.
Applicants must provide a clear and approved CRC before employment can commence.
