Overview
This position is for a Bartender at the Mediterranean Restaurant located within Pier Sixty-Six Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The role reports to the Outlet General Manager and involves serving handcrafted cocktails in a high-volume, luxury environment.

Responsibilities

Preparing all alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for guests

Assessing bar customer needs and preferences and making personalized recommendations

Stocking and maintaining the bar area to resort and health department standards

Providing an exceptional and memorable guest experience

Participating in ongoing training for professional development

Serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests sitting at the bar

Setting up the bar and bar area according to Pier Sixty-Six five-star standards

Cutting fruit and preparing garnishes as set by resort standards for service

Consistently keeping the bar area organized and clean

Knowing all specialty cocktail ingredients and garnishes

Participating in updated training for the bar and menu items

Following pouring procedures with accurate measurement using a jigger; no deviation from recipes is allowed

Notifying supervisors immediately of any product shortages or out-of-stock items

Having a working knowledge of draft beer systems and properly changing a keg

Answering questions on menu selections and drinks to servers and guests

Communicating with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, recooking orders, and product availability

Recording all transactions in the InfoGenesis system at the time of order accurately

Checking in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverage

Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day

Completing closing duties, including restocking items to set par levels and turning off lights

Presenting a physical and accurate check to guests and processing payments

Ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional

Welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to resort standards

Anticipating and addressing guests’ service needs

Speaking with others using clear and professional language

Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others and supporting the team to reach common goals

Moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance

Thanking guests with genuine appreciation

Performing other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors

Assisting supervisors with inventory

Notifying the manager or supervisor in a timely manner with suspicious ID cards or intoxicated guests

Handling cash and banks properly

Transferring checks for guests moving to a different section promptly

Adhering to departmental policies and procedures

Effectively communicating with peers, management, line, and front-of-house employees

Practicing effective listening (seeking to understand)

Performing related duties as required

Being responsible for the cleanliness of the immediate work area and the general property

Subscribing to proper grooming, dress, and uniform standards as set forth by Resort policy

Being courteous to all guests and coworkers

Maintaining behavior consistent with the sexual harassment/hostile work environment policy in the Employee Handbook

Maintaining complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware, and garnishes at their respective outlet

Qualifications

Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated individual

Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write proficient English

Effective communication skills

Ability to implement and uphold service standards

Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments

Ability to interact with all associates and guests of the resort

Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations

Capable of standing or walking for extended periods of time

Enthusiastic with knowledge of classic cocktails, wines, spirits, and beers

Ability to work under variable temperature conditions

Experience, Education, & Licensure

High School Diploma or GED recommended

Some college experience or degree recommended

Must be TIPS certified or become certified within 30 days of hire

Must have a current Food Handlers card

Previous bartending experience in a professional setting is preferred
