Hourly pay range minimum is $20.20; pay based upon experience; will work 7.5 hours daily, normally work 210 days annually
Primary Purpose
Oversee all aspects of scheduling and coordinating district field trips (PreK–12), including summer programs and transportation for extracurricular, co-curricular, and auxiliaries. Coordinate trip logistics, assign drivers and vehicles, and lead weekly driver selection meetings. Communicate trip details with dispatch and maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operations, and prepare and submit final billing to Finance.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
Valid Texas DPS School Bus Driver Certification
Ability to obtain TAPT Pupil Transportation Specialist Certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and transportation software
Strong organization, filing, and detail‑oriented skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and resolve conflicts
Ability to follow and communicate written and verbal instructions
Knowledge of office procedures and student discipline practices
Ability to complete required bus driver training and safely operate a school bus
Experience
Minimum of 4 years experience in school transportation
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Coordinate and manage all district field trips (PreK–12), including athletics, CTE, and Special Education, by scheduling, assigning, and dispatching transportation.
Utilize and maintain field trip management software; train staff (sponsors, coaches, and teachers) on submitting trip requests.
Assess transportation needs for each trip and ensure appropriate driver and vehicle assignments.
Maintain equitable driver rotation and oversee driver coverage for extracurricular trips.
Process and schedule trips daily, ensuring timely entry and advance notice to drivers.
Coordinate and track emergency trip requests.
Communicate with campuses, drivers, dispatch, and maintenance regarding trip logistics and resolve scheduling conflicts promptly.
Assist with billing processes and driver compensation for extracurricular trips.
Maintain accurate trip records and manage the field trip database.
Identify and recommend cost‑saving opportunities, including consolidating trips when feasible.
Provide driver training or in‑service sessions as needed.
Serve as a substitute bus driver and/or monitor as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
