Job Description
TITLE:
Curriculum Supervisor - ESOL
Qualifications
Master’s degree and eligibility for a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) or License (APL) with administrator I endorsement or Supervisor of Instruction endorsement, and at least five years of successful teaching experience.
Demonstrated leadership through one or more of the following: Design and/or delivery of staff development, school improvement planning curriculum development, of large-scale assessment.
Knowledge of current research and best practices in the area(s) of specialization, and of local, State and Federal policies and practices related to student assessment.
Ability to speak and write effectively, to supervise the work of others, and to deal effectively with students, staff, and the public.
Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Teaching & Learning
JOB GOALS:
Coordinates the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of county-wide curricular programs as assigned. Observe and evaluate teachers.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Coordinates the development and review of curricular program(s) and the selection of curriculum materials; serves and chairs special study committees to review, modify, develop, and/or evaluate curriculum program(s) as assigned.
Observe and evaluates classroom teachers both formally and informally and provides constructive feedback and guidance.
Develops pacing guides, assessments tools, supplemental materials guides, or other Instructional tools may be needed to effectively implement curricula.
Coordinates articulation of curriculum between grades and school levels.
Plans and conducts workshops and in-service training for appropriate staff in area(s) of curriculum specialization and other topics of pedagogy and practice in support of system goals.
Monitors student achievement data in the aggregate and in target sub-groups for area(s) of curriculum specialization, and prepares progress reports as needed.
Keeps abreast of developments, techniques, and trends in area(s) of curriculum specialization. Maintains contact with appropriate professional organizations and agencies, especially the Maryland State Department of Education.
Interprets programs, curriculum policy, and methods to interested parties, including parents, school system personnel, and civic associations.
Prepares required reports and budget requests; prepares request for State and Federal Program approval and funding; maintains files, records, and/or expenditure controls.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment
Exempt position. Twelve-month year. Schedule, salary, and work year to be established by the Board and are subject to change.
