Qualifications Required
Valid Washington teacher's certificate with endorsements in K‑8 or middle level Mathematics or Mathematics.
Satisfactory recommendations.
Qualifications Preferred
Understanding of the math Common Core State Standards.
Willingness to participate in Professional Learning Communities.
Ability to teach all math classes offered at Chinook, including high school level algebra and geometry and Math Lab classes.
GLAD trained with successful implementation or willingness to be trained.
Documented experience or training in developing and teaching a middle-level math curriculum.
Evidence of ability to establish rapport with students and motivate and instruct students at all levels.
Evidence of ability to maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
Strong communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
Strong classroom organization and management skills.
Ability to be flexible with students, staff, and parents.
Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description
Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation.
Provide instruction based on the Common Core State Standards in Math.
Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
Participate in workshops and other staff development programs that support building goals.
Be an effective member of a professional learning community, establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships.
Clearly communicate student performance expectations.
Assess student learning and provide feedback regularly.
Communicate positively with students, staff, and parents regarding progress and behavior.
Establish and communicate behavior expectations; create classroom routines and procedures; discipline fairly using the Make Your Day Respect and Responsibility program.
Use the computer to keep accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
Experience using computer technology in the classroom.
Enforce and uphold all District and building policies and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
