Summary
This position is located at the VA Medical Center Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOC's at Wisconsin Rapids - WI. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain and/or assemble supplies - operate equipment and assist treatment team - physicians - physician assistants - nurse practitioners - registered nurses and others in performing diverse therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and examinations required for patient care - including patient preparation and decontamination of equipment.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 04/24/2026.
Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include - but are not limited to: collecting patient information - collect - label and transport patient specimen - change dressings - and maintain and organize supply and equipment rooms.
Education:
To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation - for the experience required for the GS-05 level.
Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. Transcripts are required - and experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. To calculate - first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting - you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. Duties
Performs specified diagnostic test and treatments - may include but not limited to: Collect - label and transport patient specimens
Stool guaiac Throat cultures
Urine specimens
Wound cultures
Performs quality control checks-procto equipment
Applies complex types of dressings
Change dressings
Performs urinary catheterizations
Inputs and extracts patient disposition - lab and other tests in the computer as indicated
Orders an maintains an adequate level of clinic supplies and equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday
8:00am to 4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position
