Applicant must hold an Ohio teaching license in one of the following areas:

Pre K‑3 with 4/5 Generalist endorsement

P‑5

K‑8

Reports to: Principal, Superintendent

Employment status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt

Qualifications

Appropriate and valid State of Ohio teaching certification/licensure

Professional tact, diplomacy, and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community

Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance

Good health, high moral character and good attendance record

Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students

General Description
Help students learn course of study objectives and skills which will lead toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth. Direct and evaluate the learning experiences of the students in activities sponsored by the school.

Essential Functions

Maintain records as required by district policy; maintain professional ethics

Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships

Provide evidence of professional growth

Model appropriate dress and maintain professional distance from students

Provide guidance and counsel to the students to promote their welfare and proper educational development

Administer classroom organization and management; discipline and control should be maintained at all times

Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of interim reports, report cards, personal contacts and formal conferences

Write clear and usable plans prior to instructional use as described by the principal, indicating direction for instruction and reflecting the board‑approved course of study

Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter

Be prompt in arriving and dismissing a class in conformity with school schedules and reporting promptly to school and any meetings called; the teacher is not to leave school before the regularly scheduled time unless permission is secured from the principal

Present clear, complete, and accurate explanations and instructions suitable to the level of all learners

Approach subject matter positively and enthusiastically; present it calmly, self‑confidently and poised

Receive learners’ questions comfortably and answer them clearly and completely

Give positive reinforcement to acceptable academic and social behavior

Consistently confront undesirable behavior with firmness and fairness

Begin and end lessons on time

Draw all lessons to a conclusion/culmination

Monitor student behavior and activities

Show respect and consideration for students, staff, parents, etc.

Cooperate with extended exceptional programs, i.e., Special Needs, Gifted, Small Group

Make provisions/accommodations for individual differences in students to provide an equal opportunity for all children to demonstrate their knowledge

Present and display objectives clearly

Present material relevant to the objective clearly and accurately

Provide activities that will help learners meet the objectives

Ask relevant and probing questions throughout the lesson to check for understanding

Ask questions of varying difficulty to accommodate students of varying abilities

Encourage thinking and active student participation

Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment and other instructional materials

Provide homework that is relevant to the learning process

Maintain accurate pupil accounting records and be familiar with the cumulative records of all students in the class

Provide for the care and protection of district property

Maintain current inventory of texts, supplies and equipment and other objects issued to the teacher for use in the classroom

Foster positive school‑community relationships

Refer attendance, health and psychological/emotional problems to the principal and/or guidance counselor

Share responsibility for committees and co‑curricular activities as assigned by the principal or superintendent

Attend county, district and faculty meetings (seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.) as adopted in the district’s calendar unless excused by the principal

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and responsible, intelligent human beings

Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principals and democratic values

Conduct other duties related to the teacher’s duties as assigned by the principal and/or Director of Special Education

Additional Working Conditions

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue

Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions

Occasional interaction among unruly children
