Job Purpose
Handling office tasks such as filing and generating reports
Enrolling and withdrawing students
Maintaining accurate records
Checking and organizing information in cumulative records
Maintaining strict confidentiality of student records and information
Inputting student attendance information
Following school and district policies and procedures to ensure safety
Additional Office Support
Screening phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate party
Greeting and assisting visitors with a kind and welcoming attitude
Maintaining polite and professional communication via phone, e‑mail, and mail
Anticipating the needs of others to ensure a seamless and positive experience
Carrying out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, etc.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; computer experience and proficiency in Word Processing
High level of interpersonal skills
Maintains district’s high standards for personal appearance and dress
Courteous and tactful in dealing with people
Professional telephone manner and appearance at all times
Able to work in Windows or current operating system, familiar with Google, Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, SAMS and MSIS
Able to operate standard office equipment (copier, adding machine, fax, etc.)
Proper use of grammar and syntax in verbal and written communication
Completion of fingerprinting and background check prior to employment
Completion of the Child Abuse Registry Check Form
Duties and Responsibilities
Protecting the educational process at all times
Keeping all information relating to school situations strictly confidential
Performing general secretarial functions such as copying, filing, mailing, faxing, letter and memo creation, and mail delivery
Answering telephone calls, taking and delivering messages to the appropriate people
Updating SAMS/MSIS data daily as assigned by the Principal
Fulfilling all other functions related to the school office as designated by the Principal or Assistant Principal
Obtaining substitutes for teachers for professional, personal, or illness leave, keeping accurate attendance records of such leaves
Maintaining and accepting responsibility for any district‑owned fixed asset assigned to the employee and ensuring appropriate use per district policies
Undergoing periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
Maintaining confidentiality
Regular, dependable, in‑person attendance is an essential function of this position
Performing other duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director, or established by district policy
Reading, understanding, and abiding by the Employee Conduct Policy, district, state, and federal policies, and protocols established by LCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct
