Opportunity
Lead Teachers are district leaders and content‑specific experts who ensure research‑based and culturally responsive instructional practices are consistently implemented. They lead, support, and evaluate curriculum, assessments, instruction, coaching, intervention, and professional learning for specific grades across the district, collaborate with stakeholders, and establish systems that ensure equitable student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and review district‑wide ELA systems, resources, curriculum, and professional learning aligned with rigorous, research‑based, culturally responsive instruction.

Provide ongoing team, department, and professional learning to deepen teachers’ knowledge of evidence‑based, data‑driven practices.

Communicate internally and externally about curriculum, assessment, instruction, and resources.

Prepare reports and presentations on program effectiveness, student outcomes, and progress toward department goals.

Collaborate with core academic departments and district offices to support cohesion and alignment.

Evaluate and support building‑based coaches, interventionists, and educators in goal setting and progress monitoring.

Represent the department in forums to support content‑specific initiatives and events.

Partner with the Office of Research and Assessment and the Office of Student Services to support MTSS implementation and intervention.

Support the content and logistics of vacation and summer learning opportunities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skill Set

5+ years of teaching, coaching, or related experience.

Proven success in raising student outcomes in urban settings.

Prior coaching, curriculum development, or content‑specific leadership experience.

Expertise in elementary literacy, including the science of reading and writing.

Deep understanding of culturally and linguistically sustaining practices.

Strong knowledge of MA State standards and assessments.

Expertise in research‑proven MTSS and literacy intervention practices.

Experience developing supports for Montessori, Dual‑Language, SEI, and special‑education classrooms.

Strong technology skills, fluent with Google Suite applications.

Belief in the ability of all students, including those with disabilities and multilingual learners, to achieve high academic outcomes.

Proven leadership, project‑management, and organizational skills; ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Initiative, adaptability, and problem‑solving skills.

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Ability to reflect on own practice and provide timely, actionable feedback.

Valuing linguistic diversity; preference for candidates fluent in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, or Portuguese.

Requirement: Massachusetts teacher or administrator licensure (Reading, Early Childhood K‑2, or Elementary 1‑6).

Requirement: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
