Part Time Associate Veterinarian

Position Overview

Part‑time veterinarian at Cumberland Animal Clinic with predictable hours and a consistent home‑hospital assignment. The role offers flexibility while allowing ongoing clinical engagement and care continuity.
Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
Client communication and education
Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery
Maintaining accurate medical records
Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols
Promote teamwork and staff efficiency
Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge
Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to ensure highest standards
Participate in practice‑management updates and training at all levels
Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications (Required)

Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university
Current State Veterinary License
DEA registration obtained and maintained
1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
Excellent surgical and dental skills
Team‑oriented work ability
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care
Effective communication with medical and hospital staff
Client communication skills, including rapport building and clear explanations to owners
Confidence and reassurance when handling stressed, ill, or painful pets
Physical tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
Moderately physically demanding work sometimes required
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

Clinical knowledge and skill in examining and assessing animals, including cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological; diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment
Problem‑solving: develop solutions for high‑quality hospital management challenges
Communication: explain diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and internal staff
Professionalism: provide constructive feedback and accept it within a high‑quality team
Business acumen: understand management and finances of a veterinary practice
Ethics: knowledge of ethical principles guiding patient decisions
Commitment to continuing education: use resources and support others’ learning
