Title: Cybersecurity Engineer

Duration: 12+ month contract w/ potential to extend

Pay: $60-$70/hr

Location: Dearborn, MI - 4 days onsite, 1 day remote

Job Summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for protecting the organization's information assets by identifying, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats and vulnerabilities. This role conducts threat and vulnerability assessments, responds to high-severity security incidents, and designs and implements security controls to reduce overall risk. The Cybersecurity Engineer specializes in ethical hacking, penetration testing, security monitoring, and encryption standards, while also partnering with business and technical teams to promote secure practices across the organization.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive threat and vulnerability assessments using attack analysis, threat modeling, and probability-based risk evaluation.
Analyze global threat intelligence to identify trends and patterns that inform security protocols and risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor security threats and system performance using security monitoring tools; maintain existing security controls and automate system health checks for critical information assets.
Define penetration testing scope, perform ethical hacking and security testing, document findings, and communicate actionable remediation recommendations.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver security awareness training focused on identified vulnerabilities and cost-effective mitigation controls.
Triage security events, escalations, and incidents; determine resolution actions and coordinate response efforts for cyber and insider threats.
Interface with cross-functional teams to deliver secure access solutions, including multi-factor authentication, automated security scans, and security-focused deployments.
Evaluate, develop, implement, and communicate encryption standards, procedures, and guidelines across multiple platforms and diverse system environments.
Qualifications

5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or a related technical field.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Cybersecurity principles, tools, and best practices
Data modeling and analysis
Experience using issue tracking and project management tools (e.g., Jira)
Threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and incident response
Strong communication skills for translating technical risks to non-technical audiences
