Position Summary

Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for the maintenance and management of records and technical support services; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Essential and Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for records and technical services.
Establish schedules and methods for providing the maintenance and management of records and technical services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including accessing information from the NCIC computer systems including the entry, cancellation and modification of the NCIC.
Organize and supervise the training and testing of NCIC certification biennially for sworn and civilian employees.
Monitor handling of incoming communications related to the Records Section.
Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
Participate in the selection of Records Section staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintain the Records Section computer systems; recommend replacements.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis .

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or public administration;

and

Four (4) years of records management experience;

and

To include

one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.

Experience with National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Environmental:
Inside work environment; working closely with others.

Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
