Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance of hospital buildings, equipment, and systems. This role supports a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff by performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks across the facility.
Essential Job Functions
The Maintenance Technician will:
Demonstrate Vista Health's

Comply with all organizational, departmental, and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and mandatory education.
Support Vista Health strategic initiatives and adapt to operational changes. Utilize appropriate communication channels and chain of command.
Assist with
preventative and corrective maintenance
of buildings and equipment, including:
Minor repairs to patient care and transport equipment such as beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, carts, and tray tables
Assisting with repairs to medical gas systems, sterilizers, and operating tables
Minor
plumbing repairs , including faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, piping, and fixtures
Minor
electrical repairs , including lighting, control devices, panels, dietary equipment, and refrigeration equipment
Adjustment of thermostats and installation of orthopedic traction setups
Hanging shelves and pictures; moving furniture and boxes as needed
Document completed work accurately and timely using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including work orders, preventive maintenance sheets, and activity logs.
Perform snow removal and other facility support duties as assigned.
Complete all work safely to prevent injury and maintain a safe environment.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness during emergencies or special projects.
Interactions
Internal:
Daily interaction with hospital staff at all levels
External:
Daily interaction with patients and visitors; weekly interaction with vendors
Working Conditions
This position requires frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and carrying materials and equipment. The role may involve:
Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently and over 50 lbs occasionally
Exposure to infectious or contagious diseases
Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Occasional irregular hours and emergency call-ins
Daily exposure to bloodborne pathogens may occur.
Visual and Hearing Requirements
Ability to see with corrective eyewear
Ability to hear clearly with assistance
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Trade or vocational training in electricity or plumbing preferred
Experience:
No prior experience required
Skills & Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of hand tools and their proper use
Ability to read and understand technical manuals and safety procedures
Licensure/Certification:
None required
Additional Requirements
On-call and call-in availability is required
Travel to other Vista Health System locations may be required
