We are seeking a
Ford Fleet Mechanic
to support the maintenance and repair of our light‑duty Ford truck fleet used in
Elko, NV
transportation operations. This role is best suited for a mechanic with hands‑on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing components on
Ford gasoline‑powered trucks . Experience with diesel equipment is welcome as an added strength, but this position is specifically focused on
Ford gas vehicle service and repair .
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Boart Longyear’s fleet of Ford light‑duty gas trucks.
Perform repairs and replacement of mechanical, electrical, steering, suspension, brake, cooling, ignition, fuel, and drivability‑related components.
Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
Use diagnostic tools and service information to identify faults and complete repairs efficiently;
Ford IDS experience is a plus .
Perform pinpoint testing and troubleshooting to identify root causes and reduce repeat repairs.
Complete parts replacement accurately and verify proper vehicle performance before returning units to service.
Communicate clearly with supervisors and safety personnel regarding repair status, equipment issues, and maintenance needs.
Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.
Work independently with limited supervision while contributing positively to the team.
Qualifications
Direct experience repairing and maintaining
Ford gasoline‑powered trucks
is strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair vehicle systems effectively.
Experience with electrical diagnostics is a plus.
Experience with diesel equipment is considered an asset; applicants with only diesel mechanic experience and no Ford gas vehicle background may not be the best fit.
Valid driver’s license required; ability to attain a CDL.
Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
Ability to obtain MSHA/OSHA certification.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Physical / Work Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and work with arms above shoulder level when removing or installing components.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools, including in tight or limited‑access spaces.
Ability to perform work safely without posing a direct threat to self or others.
Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions.
Education and Experience
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Typically requires 1‑3 years of directly related mechanic experience, with preference for experience on
Ford gas‑powered fleet vehicles .
