PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY 100% FEDERAL GRANT FUNDED AND IS SUBJECT TO FEDERAL GRANT CHANGES. THIS POSITION HAS GUARANTEED FUNDING THROUGH 07/31/2027, WITH ADDITIONAL FUNDING SUPPORT BEING REQUESTED TO FUND THIS POSITION THEREAFTER.

This Associate Epidemiologist position helps provide case investigation assistance for the state of Missouri's Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program. As a staff member, you will engage with infection preventionists and/or hospital epidemiologists in a wide variety of healthcare settings across the state. This position also provides technical support to healthcare facilities to help address containment and prevention strategies to tackle the ever evolving threat of multidrug-resistant organisms across the state.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Responsibilities - What you'll do

Conduct case inv estigations for multidrug-resistant organisms, especially carbapenemase-producing organisms and Candida auris
Provide technical assistance to healthcare facilities regarding implementation of appropriate infection prevention and control measures, as needed
Assist with cluster/outbreak response efforts of healthcare-associated infections
Participate in infection control assessment and response efforts with healthcare facilities, as needed
Participate in training opportunities to continually refine epidemiological skillsets and competency building
Foster collaborative partnerships between state and local public health agencies, as well as a wide variety of healthcare settings within the state of Missouri.
Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) or equivalent experience is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Public Health or relevant area with 2 or more years of public health experience may be considered.
Demonstrated knowledge of epidemiological techniques and methods, include foundational epidemiological concepts up to interpretating data analysis.
Excellent written and oral communication skills that can be tailored to multiple audience types
Ability to work both independently and within a team, including strong organization and multi-tasking skills
An innate desire for curiosity and having a growth mindset
