Temp Radiology Tech Student – Interventional Radiology (ID: 250004IX)
Description
Under the direction of a Radiologist, Radiology Section Manager, or Radiology Technologist, performs radiographic procedures according to protocols established for various age groups of patients, at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a wide variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures as required. Assesses the age‑specific needs of the patients. Performs job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of TGH.
Working Conditions
The job requires considerable walking, lifting and positioning patients; stooping, bending and pushing carts, wheelchairs and equipment; and lifting supplies. Exposure to radiation, but there is minimal chance of injury/illness when established safety procedures are followed. Working conditions vary; exposure to some unpleasant conditions when assisting on special procedures. Exposure to back injuries/muscle strains from lifting/positioning patients and pushing carts/portable x‑ray equipment.
This position has been evaluated as a Level I in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Level I positions in this category require the performance of tasks which involve exposure to blood and potentially infectious body fluids.
Qualifications
Must be enrolled in a training program in Radiology Technology from an AMA‑approved school. Must have approval from Radiology Program to apply for student position. Must have competencies completed.
