Accounts Payable Supervisor
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and vendor relationships. This role supervises AP staff, enforces internal controls, and supports process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the accounts payable team, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations
Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment processing
Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports
Review and approve batches of invoices and payment runs (ACH, wire, check)
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements
Manage vendor relationships, including resolving discrepancies and responding to inquiries
Monitor AP aging and ensure liabilities are recorded accurately and timely
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations
Collaborate with procurement and other departments to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
Support external and internal audits by providing requested documentation and analysis
Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and best practices within the AP function
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
5+ years of accounts payable experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and accounting principles
Experience with ERP/accounting systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
$80,000 - $110,000 depending on education and experience.
