Job Overview
At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will coordinate and support field operations for DERR field investigations. You will work closely with the Superfund program and Site Investigation Field Unit personnel, district offices, and U.S. EPA on operational elements such as site access, work plan preparation, field sampling activities, lab coordination, and report preparation. You will guide technical staff and coordinate Level of Effort activities such as mobilization requests, work orders, and invoice approvals to keep site assessment projects on track. You will assist leadership in developing program proposals and recommendations, and collaborate with management and staff to identify and resolve imminent threats and high‑priority issues.

Organizing site access, reconnaissance, and work drive development.

Overseeing field sampling, lab coordination, and data entry.

Preparing reports, graphics, and results correspondence.

Managing project closeouts, recommendations, and briefings.

Coordinating with local governments, health officials, and property owners.

Contributing to program proposals and resolutions for high priority issues.

Developing and delivering training on sampling procedures and program guidance.

Qualifications

7 years relevant programmatic experience.

OR combination of education in an environmentally focused discipline and specific programmatic experience equaling 7 years.

OR completion of undergraduate core coursework in an environmentally related discipline and 3 years relevant programmatic experience.

OR 2 years relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865.

OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

For all positions involving field work, applicants must have own transportation. New employees in OEPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian‑in‑training certificate during probation.
